First Myanmar Investment together with Indonesian conglomerate the Lippo Group via its subsidiary PT Siloam International Hospitals, have invested US$13 million in Pun Hlaing Hospital outside Yangong.
The 100-bed hospital was established in 2005, but the new investment will allow the hospital to increase its number of beds to 165 from mid May.
The hospital was initially 65%/35% owned by SPA Myanmar and First Myanmar Investment. Since March it has been 60%/40% owned by First Myanmar Investment and the Lippo Group.
Although Lippo Group owns the minority share, it has brought US$10 million investment with it as well as Gershu Paul, the former chief executive of Siloam Hospitals, as chief executive of the hospital.
